New Beginnings! Events for the month
Library will be open on Martin Luther King Birthday
Family Storytime
(Saturday, January 12th, 19th, and 26th at 10:30 am).
For the entire family. Promoting language and literacy skills, these story times are a great way to further your child’s lifelong love of reading and learning. Children and their grownups are encouraged to actively engage and participate with the stories and activities during the program.
Baby and Toddler Story Time
Returning January 8th (Tuesdays at 10:00 am and 11:00 am)
This is a great way to introduce your child to language skills in a positive and fun environment. With slightly more activity and movement than our lap times, children and their grownups are encouraged to engage with the books and songs and to actively participate in the program.
Baby Laptime
Returning January 9th (Wednesdays, at 1:00 and 2:00 pm)
These 20-to-30-minute story times introduce books, songs, rhymes, tickles and bounces developmentally appropriate for children ages birth to when they start walking. Baby Lap Time is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the joys of reading in a positive and fun atmosphere. This story time is designed so the baby will be in their caregiver’s lap and the grownup is actively involved in the program. It is recommended that each child have their own adult with them. is limited; first come, first served.
S.T.A.R. Baby Signs ll
Mondays, January 7th, 14th and 28th.
Singing, Talking and Reading (S.T.A.R) are an important part of early literacy that can start at birth. If you are a caregiver or parent interested in enhancing pre-literacy development, fine motor skills, bonding and communication with your young child, join us.
Tango
(first and third Saturday of each month, 2:30-5:00 pm)
Both beginners and more experienced dancers are welcome during this twice-monthly class.
Teen Gaming
(Wednesdays, January 9th and 16th 3:30 pm)
Teens 13-19 can play Wii and Xbox games and eat snacks!
Improv for all !
(January 12th at 1:00 pm).
Free classes with the Washington Improv Theater
Workshops are high fun, low stress classes designed to show you how improvisers create spontaneous, off the cuff theater, Our enthusiastic and friendly instructors work to make sure everyone is able to participate in a playful and trusting atmosphere. This workshop is free and geared toward adult participants; registration is not required, but is recommended.
Kids Love Karaoke
Tuesday, January 29th at 4:00 pm.
Tween Pages Book Club
Tuesday (January 22nd at 4:30 pm)
Discuss book of the month and enjoy a themed activity. Vote on the next book to read
Newspaper Club
Mondays, January 7th, 14th, and 21st at 10:00 am.
